Welcome to Knautical. These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Knautical, including our website, vessel lookup tools, sailboat reference pages, wiki-style content, community features, and related services.

By accessing or using Knautical, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Knautical.

Knautical provides informational tools and community-driven reference content related to sailboats, vessels, vessel documentation, manufacturer information, specifications, history, and publicly available maritime records.

Knautical is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the United States Coast Guard, the National Vessel Documentation Center, any government agency, vessel manufacturer, yacht club, registry, surveyor, broker, or marina unless expressly stated.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Knautical. If you use Knautical on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Some features may require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and notify us promptly of unauthorized account use.

You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account.

We may suspend, limit, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create risk, or interfere with Knautical’s operation.

Knautical may allow users to submit, edit, upload, comment on, or otherwise contribute content, including vessel details, photos, descriptions, specifications, corrections, notes, and other materials.

You retain ownership of content you submit, but you grant Knautical a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, modify, adapt, publish, distribute, and use your content in connection with operating, improving, promoting, and providing Knautical.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your content and that your content does not violate law, infringe intellectual property rights, invade privacy rights, or contain unlawful, misleading, defamatory, or harmful material.

Knautical may include wiki-style or community-edited content. We may review, edit, remove, reorganize, or moderate content, but we are not required to do so.

You understand that user-submitted and public-record-derived information may be incomplete, outdated, incorrect, duplicated, vandalized, misclassified, or changed without notice.

You agree not to:

Knautical may display information derived from public records, third-party sources, user submissions, historical materials, or automated processing.

We do not guarantee that vessel names, documentation numbers, hull identification numbers, ownership-related information, dimensions, manufacturers, model years, registration status, or other vessel details are accurate, current, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

You are responsible for verifying information with official sources, qualified professionals, and applicable authorities.

Knautical, including its design, software, branding, database structure, logos, and original content, is owned by Knautical or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or exploit Knautical’s protected materials except as permitted by these Terms or with written permission.

Names, logos, trademarks, vessel names, manufacturer names, and other marks appearing on Knautical belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply endorsement or affiliation.

Knautical may link to or display content from third parties. We are not responsible for third-party websites, databases, materials, services, policies, or practices.

Your use of third-party resources is at your own risk.

We may add, change, suspend, or remove features or content at any time. We may also impose limits on certain features or restrict access to parts of Knautical.

You may stop using Knautical at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe you violated these Terms, created legal risk, harmed other users, or interfered with Knautical.

Sections that by nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute provisions.

Knautical is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.

Knautical is informational only and is not a substitute for official records, professional advice, vessel surveys, legal review, insurance review, safety inspection, navigation tools, or regulatory guidance.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Knautical and its owners, operators, employees, contractors, contributors, licensors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, vessel-related losses, or reliance on inaccurate information.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Knautical’s total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to Knautical in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Knautical and its owners, operators, employees, contractors, contributors, licensors, and affiliates from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses arising from your use of Knautical, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in Clay County, Florida, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of Knautical after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
